The Jasmine Flower

Maryam sits among the jasmine flowers and on the swing with her friend Marisa, making dresses for their dolls, unaware that her life is about to change. When her father decides to emigrate, she leaves behind her home, Marisa, her cat Lucy and the scent of jasmine.

With her parents, she enters a new country, an unfamiliar culture and a language she does not know. Homesickness, the struggle to fit in, bullying and rejection by some classmates make the transition difficult, but she continues searching for safety, friendship and warmth.

A compassionate novel about migration, friendship, adaptation and finding a place to belong.
